Geodetic works are being carried out as part of the construction team on the expansion of the Istrian Ypsilon motorway, section from the Učka Tunnel to Matulji.
Project Description:
The expansion of the Istrian Ypsilon on this section is one of the strategic infrastructure projects aimed at improving the traffic connectivity of the Istrian peninsula with the rest of Croatia. The project includes the construction of an additional traffic lane on the existing route, reconstruction of the older tube of the Učka Tunnel, and modernization of the road infrastructure to enhance traffic safety and flow.
Project Goals:

Improve transport connectivity between Istria and the Kvarner region

Increase road safety for all users

Reduce congestion and traffic delays at key points along the section

Adapt the road to accommodate higher traffic volumes, especially during the tourist season
Planned Works:

Road widening – adding an extra lane to increase capacity

Tunnel reconstruction – renovating the older tube of the Učka Tunnel to improve safety and traffic flow

Modernization of safety systems – upgrading ventilation and drainage systems

Improvement of junctions and intersections – enhancing connections between local and main roads
Project Significance:
This project significantly contributes to the economic connectivity of the region, better access to tourist destinations, and improved road safety. Special emphasis is placed on the reconstruction of the older Učka Tunnel tube, which will ensure a higher level of safety and traffic fluidity along this vital infrastructure corridor.
